FAQ

Are you using the  Manitoba curriculum?
Yes, we are publicly funded and, thus, mandated to use the Manitoba Provincial Curriculum which is supplemented by Curriculum from the Adventist North American Education Division. (Link to http://www.nadeducation.org/intro)

Are all your teachers Manitoba certified?
RRVJA has brought together both a skilled and experienced teaching staff. All are certified by the Manitoba Department of Education.

What is your philosophy of discipline?
Our discipline philosophy is redemptive in nature. We partner with the home to communicate students’ progress, including areas where improvement is needed. We believe that allowing children to learn from the natural consequences of their behavior will aid their development. The positive reinforcement of good work habits, attitudes and the application of redemptive disciplinary measures are seen as constructive means of developing students’ spiritual, mental and physical abilities.

Do you affiliate with a particular religious faith?
Yes. Red River Valley Junior Academy is affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Canada and models itself in accordance with those beliefs. See statements of Belief —-in handbook link

How many students are enrolled in the school?
Typically, enrollment is around 120 to 150 students annually. We strive to maintain a low student to teacher ratio. Our enrollment numbers reflect this endeavor.

We achieve a 12:1 student to teacher ratio.

Yes. Parents are requested to make an appointment with the principal for an admissions evaluation before June 15.

Though enrollment begins in September, applications are accepted year-round. Students are considered on a first come, first served basis. Early application is strongly encouraged.

Is there an application fee?
A non-refundable application fee of $50.00 is applicable for all new students or returning students who file for late registration.

Red River Valley Junior Academy recognizes that bullying can be physical, verbal or indirect. When bullying is ignored or downplayed, pupils will suffer ongoing torment and harassment.
